A focus on mathematics and teacher support, NWEA scores above the Diocese in every grade, state medals, a national innovation grant, and champions on the field.
Reviewing the 2025-26 School Year
Printed report, page 7The 2025–26 school year gave us much to celebrate at St. Theresa Catholic School and important opportunities to continue strengthening our work. The 2025 Strengthening Our Mission Survey helped guide that work, particularly in the areas of academics, teacher support, and the classroom environment.
Academically, our primary focus was mathematics. We expanded Building Thinking Classrooms into additional grade levels (2-5), strengthened collaboration among our math teachers, and began the process of adopting a new mathematics curriculum. At the middle school level, we refined our math pathways to provide clearer opportunities for both on-level and advanced students and stronger preparation for Algebra I and high school mathematics.
Supporting our teachers was equally important. We expanded our instructional coaching model, providing more opportunities for classroom visits, feedback, reflection, and professional growth. We strengthened support for our early-career teachers through a combination of instructional coaching, administrative support, faculty leadership, and targeted professional development, recognizing that supporting excellent teachers is one of the most important ways we can support our students.
We continued to strengthen the ways we serve students who need additional academic support. We added a certified academic language therapist, maintained two dedicated learning-support spaces, and improved our systems for identifying and responding to individual student needs.
Faith formation remained at the heart of our work. We continued integrating the Little Way and virtue-based formation into the life of the school, strengthened collaboration and planning within our religion program, and introduced a beginning-of-year retreat for our middle school students. Our Catholic identity is not simply one component of a St. Theresa education; it is the foundation that gives purpose and direction to everything else we do.
The year was also an important period of reflection and preparation as our faculty and staff undertook the extensive self-study process for our upcoming accreditation. That work invited us to examine our mission, programs, practices, strengths, and opportunities for growth across the school.
Strengthening Our Mission Survey
Printed report, page 8In Spring 2026, 126 families participated in our annual Strengthening Our Mission Survey. Their responses provided an important reflection of our community's experience, affirming many of St. Theresa's greatest strengths while helping identify priorities for continued growth.

NWEA
St. Theresa students continued to demonstrate strong academic achievement and growth on the NWEA MAP assessments in 2025–26. Students in every grade level exceeded national and diocesan achievement averages across all subjects. Reading, Language Usage, and Science showed particularly strong results, with nearly all grade levels demonstrating both high achievement and high growth.
In mathematics, achievement remained high across all grade levels, while growth results identified opportunities for continued focus, particularly in grades 1 and 6–8. These results affirm the strength of our academic program while also helping us identify where continued attention can support even greater student growth.

Innovation
Printed report, page 10St. Theresa Catholic School was one of only 8 schools out of 160 nationwide to be selected for a Phase I Rapid Response grant through the Notre Dame DELTA Program. The award helps us investigate faith-centered use of artificial intelligence in the classroom.
Our approach is purposeful and deliberate. Before any technology reaches a student or teacher, we ask hard questions about privacy, transparency, human dignity, and utility. Teachers stay at the center of learning, and families stay partners at every step.
Through our leadership's work with the Catholic Digital Commons Foundation, the Builders AI Forum, and Notre Dame, we bring the best of the Church's thinking on technology back to our campus.
As a PK-8 school at the cutting edge of classroom innovation, St. Theresa is proud to lead by example with both courage and care.
Performing Arts
Printed report, page 10The ever-growing Performing Arts program at STCS continues to shine bright! Students in grades 5-8 were encouraged to audition or run crew for our Mainstage Productions, and this year's season was a smashing success!
- Fall play
- Little Women brought Louisa May Alcott's classic story of sisterhood, love, and resilience to life with poise and care, and the cast and crew worked together beautifully to showcase an incredibly heartwarming show.
- Spring musical
- Our Spring Musical, Disney's Newsies Jr., told the story of the 1899 Newsboys strike with incredible energy and grit. An enormous cast of almost 40 students, plus a hardworking student crew, came together to exemplify the themes of courage and teamwork in the show.
- Performing arts electives
- Beyond the extracurricular productions, students are invited to grow in their artistry through a variety of performing arts elective classes, including Musical Theatre, Acting 101, Broadway Dance, and Production Workshop.
- Summer drama camp
- Our three weeks of Summer Drama Camps produced amazing showcases with the theme of "Follow Your Dreams," in which the campers designed their own variety shows filled with the spirit of dreaming big. The Performing Arts department continues to encourage students to never stop honing their craft and striving for greatness, both on and off the stage.

Service
Printed report, page 12This year, projects have included making cards, selecting personalized Christmas gifts, and then hand-delivering them to residents of a nursing home (Kindergarten & 5th grade); making Rosary beads and praying for cancer patients (1st & 6th grade); and cleaning up the STCS campus (2nd & 7th grade).
Additionally, National Junior Honor Society members lead projects involving both our school and parish communities. We collaborate to maximize our impact. Our Thanksgiving Food Drive supplies diabetic-friendly foods, and our diaper drive with Catholic Charities supports hundreds of mothers in the Austin diocese. In addition to these projects, NJHS hosts Bake Sales during all lunch periods raises funds for groups like JPII Center, Austin Humane Society, Blood Cancer, and Big Love Cancer.
Middle School students participate in a variety of ministries: St. Elizabeth—visiting residents at area senior centers; Feeding the Flock—making sandwiches for our unhoused neighbors; and Liturgical Ministry—serving as lectors, altar servers, and hospitality at Mass.
This culture of service extends beyond our students, as parents also play an essential role in serving our school community and modeling the Little Way through their time and talents. Last year, our parent community contributed nearly 6,500 service hours serving our school and parish community.
Building on this foundation of service, St. Theresa continually strives to strengthen our Catholic identity. As part of this commitment, we are excited to implement Openlight Media’s Cultivating the Virtues program in all our classrooms next year. Through this program, students and teachers will grow together in the virtues Jesus taught and foster a campus rooted in faith, character, and Christ-centered living. The program will span the curriculum and include an at-home component for families to share.
